videos restored… the revolution begins now….

Sometime Monday Feb. 20 the Studio SFO videos were restored. Great, I say. Well let’s see how precarious anyone is that creates new content in this new world. In this case, it seems to have worked out ok. Do I think it’s ok to sleep soundly, or let’s say sleep at all? No. No way. Have you not read? Have you not heard??  We have our own worlds to build. The debate is only going to get better. More coming soon. …. MRO

DMCA takedown notice retracted!

Good news.  The good folks over at Warner Bros. corrected the DMCA action taken against Studio SFO’s videos posted on YouTube.com.
Somehow though the video links don’t play the content now,  so, still looking into that.  However, the nasty red letter infringement notices  are gone!
During all this we all leaned a lot and found lots of links which I will be incorporating into the site somehow.  I have more to say about all this at a later time.

Big corporations are apparently given the ability to search or “filter” the YouTube content to police it.  This is what I gather from my reading. Smaller content owners, three letters for you S.O.L.

It was caused because our videos were caught in a “filter” or some type of keyword search that flagged them.   Then, someone nailed all the videos from that search.  There were 100,000 pulled by Viacom apparently the week before.  In all that only a few were pulled by mistake apparently.

The main point is, it was a mistake. Can you imagine though, how this imperils all content creators  – corporate or not?  What if a big launch had been planned? What about videos embedded in thousands of sites?  I fully realize that YouTube.com is in no way a “public access” channel.  However this little incident shows that the channel itself has  highly placed  and deep pocketed  “editors”.  This is not widely known and should be vigilantly watched.   I still want anyone  with false DMCA claims made against them to contact me at orange @  studiosfo.net

We also learned – it is impossible to contact YouTube.com.
As the video sharing marketplace grows, i doubt that YouTube will be able to remain on top of the heap with zero (user) customer service.

Please send me any related stuff or incidents you know about,

Orange

Day 3:

I spent a few hours over the last 2 days first trying to contact someone at Warner Bros. and then exchanging voicemails and calls with some of their lawyers.  As of 3:41 PST 02/14/07 Warner Bros. phone message indicated that the videos would be restored through their direct contacts at YouTube.com.  As of 2:53 AM 02/15/07 they are not.

Ever tried to contact YouTube?  Good luck. They havent responded to any of our emails or faxes whatsoever.

This is all extremelly stressful.
We produce 100% original content:
-no mashups

- no screenshots
- no samples
- none
- zero
- never have
- never will

Welcome to the new world. Here we go.

As you can read in the Metaverse Manifesto the death of old media will not be pretty. It will be a tooth and nail fight for reality itself.

Today, Studio SFO had  videos taken off of YouTube by a DMCA takedown! These videos were produced entirely by Studio SFO down to the textures themselves. Can you imagine?
All I can say is, the Metaverse Manifesto predicted this, perfectly. Our studio is in the process of replying.

Make no mistake, the old media dinosaurs have no choice but to try to use corporate power to intimidate and destroy all competition. That means you – whatever you create be it physical, audio, video, game, whatever. Prepare to defend your creativity against these false claims. I’m in the process of merely trying to find contact information for Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. Unacceptable. Completely unacceptable behavior.

I post this here purely to alert the community to the attack. You are next. Let’s get together on this. Make no mistake, they will not stop here until they attempt to shut down all user-generated media including the channels themselves. You are next.
