MRO on the future of music

Some local pals got MRO’s views tonight as part of a Bay Area Future Salon called “Future of Music” Many thanks to the good folks at SAP (That means Mark) for hosting. So, I discussed small groups, online collaboration, and the “sleeping cat phenomenon” . I’ll upload the presentation as soon as i get it to work completely. Got some great feedback but I’m still trying to work out how to explain the “digital landscape” to the person who doesn’t use SL or other multiuser world. How can I put this? Which do you prefer…. “Join or die” or “Resistance is futile” ? Which one is more user fiendly?

how to make an SL killer

Dude, look, I don’t know who’s reading this, but… MR. O. can tell you, “Home” will not be home. Sure, it will be home to some. How about “Apt.”? Do you understand? The SL killers are not killers – yet. But if you want to know how to create an SL killer… you got to start up a chat w. – MRO. But really, why would anyone want to kill SL, for their own monopolistic world?  Hmmm.  You must read Metaverse Manifesto to understand.

We will be using these as part of the Virtual World SIG happening March 26, and over the course of 4 additional meetings this year. These meetings are the only Virtual World meetups on the West coast and are Co-Chaired by Bob Ketner of Studio SFO and Corey Bridges of Multiverse.

Please send your contribution to : orange[at]studiosfo.net.

On March 26 we will be looking into the Past, Present and Future of Virtual Worlds with Bruce Damer

We will be focusing on the Virtual World Timeline Project and this should be a great evening.  You can also attend in Second Life, check the SIG site Virtual World SIG  day of for teleport.

My dinner with Analogue

Hanging out afer the Acedia party, I showed some of the new “SL killers” sites to Analogue Montagne. She said they look smoothe but doubt that they will be able to match SL’s wild mix of fashion and instant creativity. After a week or two following the story, I think I agree. Ana was sporting a new tank top and plaid skirt. And reminded me don’t forget to spring forward. I have already sprung forward.
