MRO Show…the show must go on !!

Kudos to pals Dedric Mauriac and Darien Mason for these posts after a night at Acedia’s and an episode of the MRO Show.

It really was a fun time considering these guys are long-term SL’ers and Kool-Aid drinkers in both the Metaverse and the Steampunkverse!   Thanks to all who came out last night.  Truth is, I love doing MRO Show and have only been limited by time devoted to other pursuits such as the Virtual World SIG that occur in that big ol’ RL.  Always trying to mesh these worlds and friends like these that make it worthwhile!  Have mic – will travel I say!

Here come the frauds: Elizabeth Arden – Ford Models – MTV

Here come the “first” claims again:

Frauds MTV Networks, Elizabeth Arden and Ford Models are directly responsible.

“NEW YORK, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ — In a first for any virtual world, MTV Networks, Elizabeth Arden and Ford Models today announced they are launching a campaign to find the world’s first-ever virtual supermodel. The three iconic brands are teaming up to create M by Mariah Carey’s “Virtual Ford Model Search”

This type of thing must be stopped. Really now. Eject and ban corporate frauds that claim “first”.

Metaverse Manifesto moment – Gartner firm statement mirrors the manifesto

Just read this on VirtualWorldsNews.com where the Gartner firm mirrors exactly what I stated in the Metaverse Manifesto published earlier this year.

The link:

http://www.virtualworldsnews.com/2007/11/gartner-says-ge.html

The quote:

“the way we represent ourselves through virtual personas–from 3D avatars to Facebook profiles to Amazon wish lists–will become more important for business than who we are as actual people.”

The Metaverse Manifesto :

“The customizable Avatar itself is a more accurate representation of the being than the human form.”

The human form is limited to existing within a certain set of cultures – within certain clothes and within certain times and locations.

All these limitations prohibit the mind from expanding, and have limited creativity.

We state that the Avatar is more “real” than the physical person.”

Well if they DID read the Metaverse Manifesto I’d like to think that someone might credit an influence at least. And hey, if they didn’t, then at least you can see the Manifesto unfolding!
